654 Air Cleaner was created by M Bailey
I decided to change the air cleaner on the 654 from an oiled brass wool type (good for stopping large rocks and small animals) to a paper type filter. The problem was there just isn't much room between the carb and hood. Ended up going this route with a B&S air cleaner assembly which took some modification to the carb flange and just barely fit in the required space but has a much larger filtration area.

The old air cleaner which says "Clean when dirty wash in gasoline drain re-oil"
