On Geno's prior Wheel Horse site I had started my RJ58 project and will continue to post updates and pictures on the new site. I know everybody likes pictures. Just a recap of where I am now. The tractor has been taken apart and cleaned. This week the big parts are to be sand blasted and primed, The transmission was locked up and when I tore it apart, I found broken teeth, lots of rust and the trans fluid had solidified .I have since completed the trans rebuild, found replacement gears on E-bay, put in new bearings and new bushings, and seals and gaskets. Today I was able to paint the trans and tomorrow I will put on pulleys and brake band and post some pictures. Here are some before

pictures of the tractor and trans gears.

nice work on the trans, It looks like your setting the bar pretty high for the rest of us.
sealing up a rebuild is almost bitter sweet, a LOT more work goes into it then most ever see or know.
when you open them up to find a mess and nothing turns its great being able to run through all the gears and see the wheel shafts turn when your done;
Then that nagging question what were they thinking when that brake got welded?
I know we all hate that feeling when run across those speed bumps.
SPEED BUMP was about the only thing i could think of that describe them that would not get in trouble.
cant wait to follow the progress.

Great job Motor. I agree with John, jm46322, about modifications done by previous owners, what the heck were they thinking when they welded the brake drum to the shaft!? At some point a po of my Suburban decided to move the seat back (not a good idea) so they cut out the brace on the top of the tool box which lead to multiple cracks due to lack of support for the fenders. Lots of extra effort to repair in the end.

Setting the bar high? Ya got that right. I think these pictures are going to make me take every bolt, nut, washer, clip, everything and paint all of it. I was just going to paint the frame and trans together. But I don't know if I can do only that now.
