414-8 Refresh

This is a 414 that came in last fall with several others. She needs a little attention so she is getting it this week, I need a change of pace lol. This one will get some wheel blasting, steps will be blasted and new step treads put on, a little buffing, polishing and touch up. It's not too often they show up in this kind of shape so trying to get someone into a nice tractor without a restore at a lower price.

Spent most of the day getting stuff in the store and some other things ready to go in the store but did get a little done. Stack has been cleaned up and painted with the header paint. Wheels are blasted + painted, tires are done + mounted, and 4 new tubes put in. Glad Clint was here, 2 people makes these jobs a lot easier. Clint got the steps and lift panel blasted while I did a little buffing. Painting the steps and lift panel now so we can get some new treads on and put them on in the morning. Then on to some wiring and checking it all out mechanically.

Looking good on the outside, now on to the mechanical.

Spent a little time on this one today. 1st pic is what happens when the light wire gets in the steering gear and there's no fuse in the system. It melted the whole center right out of the switch too lol.

She got a new switch harness, most of the tractor rewired, another light switch and a new charging gauge. After cleaning and setting the points, a carb tear down and cleaning, and a new spark plug she's as smooth as new.

Still needs a little cleaning and detail work but for the most part she is fixed up right and will make a nice dependable tractor for someone.
