Hey Gene,

We were talking 2 stage blowers. Here is a few pictures of what I did to mine.

1. Auger shaft bearing. I replaced the original bronze bushing with ball bearing cam lock units. The shaft is 1" dia.

You need a 1/4" to 5/16" spacer to move the bearing in board as the auger shaft is too short. The spacer also clears the bearing flange.

2. Tensioner. I really hated the oringal wood block chain tensioner. So I replaced it with this.

I used the original bracket and extended it downward so the idler sprocket would clear the frame.

Wow Kurt, thanks for putting this here! :thanks :10

Is that a pillow bearing you used? If so what is supporting the bearing on the spacer side, did you machine the flange in it?

Links to the bearings at TSC. Most bearing houses have them

Flanges - T52MSTR

www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/a-l-be...m-119871799--1?rfk=1

Bearings - SA205-16

www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/insert...16-1-in?cm_vc=-10005

This is the same type of bearing that are used on the single stage jack shafts and the two stage impeller shaft. Just different shaft diameters.

I usually get my bearings from USA Bearings and Belts, but have used TSC bearing with good results.

Some more bearing pics.

Yes I did machine the spacer.

Drawing for the spacer - The last spacer I made the large inside diameter had to be 2-1/8" to clear the flange.

Thanks Kurt. I have the bearings and flangettes in stock, been using them on farm equipment for years, and it's the standard setup on the older Wheel Horse 48" snow throwers.. What threw me is the very 1st pic looks like there is only the inside flangette on it then the spacer. If the other flangette was on the outside I wondered where the outside bearing support was. I guess the 2 are together inside the spacer even though it looks like 1 lol. :thumb1

Yep, both flanges are there. One is partially inside the spacer. The pic sure does look like one flange, but two are there.

Another mod that helps. Really cuts down on vibration if your impeller is as out of balance as min is.
