I had the same problem with the light rear end Kurt. I got hung really bad last year so I put smaller fluid filled tires on it, chains with teeth, and built a box that goes over the top plow mount to stack weights in. The weights are 55lb I think and there's 6 back there. It was probably overkill but the thing would go anywhere lol. :rolling

We are think alike Geno. This is just about what I did. I used 5 - 25 lb. barbell weights in addition to 70 lb. cast wheel weights. I can add more barbell weights if I need to.

I was using the 70lb cast wheel weights and chains with my single stage and that was not enough when I tried to back up - up hill with the blower raiseed. I thought my two-stage was going to need more - much more.

Also, I'm going to try some rubber chains this year. We'll see - the steel chains are ready to go on if need be.

Sorry, but the system won't let me post pictures.

I never tried using rubber chains, I never thought they would be good on ice. I'll look into the pic thing. :)

Pic thing is working now! Thanks,

I've never tried rubber chains before. They get good reviews. Steel chains were making a mess of my driveway, so they are worth a try.

I agree with the ice comments, probably worthless.

Now that pics are work, below is a pic of my hitch and weights.

Plans, you think I have plans...........

Actually it was quite simple. I purchased a 2" receiver tube. Add some 3X1-1/2" channel and some 1-1/2" angle and I have a hitch.

Here is a pic with some other weights I tried.

Here is another pic Geno. Wish I had taken more. It shows the main body as I was painting it. If you want some dimensions, just ask and I'll get some.

Also, I made some supports that go from the main hitch down to the rod through the original hitch. I made them from 1 X1/8" steel welded to a couple of spacers made from 3/4" pipe. I bolted these to the upper hitch just so I had some adjustment. This hitch worked well, it easily held my 260lbs. Simple to remove too if I put my plow on.
