I should have put this up before but never did. Just got through doing the 520 we'll be mowing with this Summer so thought I would grab a pic.


Remove cable.
Drill rivet.
Insert bolt with lock washer and lock nut.
Use speed clips and screws to reassemble.
Job done and it is adjustable from now on. :)

I just did this on my 1988 416-8 this afternoon. I used a 1/4-20 bolt, flat washer and (2) 1/4-20 nuts (one was a jam nut with loctite because I didn't have a lock nut). It worked great and the throttle now stays at full throttle now. I can now see why you say to use the speed clips. Those little nuts were pretty tricky to get back on.
