Started taking the Kohler K91T apart today and was pleasantly surprised. 75% of the parts on the motor are in good shape. The parts I needed most, rod, crank and flywheel were in great shape. The carb is original, going to keep it, there easy to rebuild. One other thing I like is all the fasteners/bolts are original, its hard to find that hardware any more.

Tackled the refurbishing of the Kohler K91T recoil pull start. The unit was in fairly good shape, just needed a good cleaning.Had to replace a small spring a washer and the pull cord. The hard part was rewinding the main spring and getting it in place, its like herding cats. oh I forgot your hands are covered with lube because the mechanical parts have to be greased before assembly. A third hand would have been nice.

All the parts on my Kohler K91T are cleaned, replaced or rebuilt. The ones requiring paint were stripped and painted (red). the cylinder was honed to kill the glaze. the valves were good just needed cleaning and the lash was fine. Piston was good, put on new rings, set the gap. Now all I need is two oil seals a new head gasket and fuel line, put in some 30 wt oil and this little motor is ready to go. Ill post photos of the completed project, but that's after I return from Genos event.
