654 full restoration was created by jm46322
This one was picked up last fall by my son and I. its a 654 that's been re-powered with a h70. It has the main frame plate cracked where it mounts up to the transmission, Not sure if its a common problem but its a easy fix with a little welding.
After a good long power washing it looked better but also exposed some of its faults too.
I have not been really good about the picture half of it so far, So as i sit here thinking whats next after i blasted the hood I came to man up and start showing our work. We been going at it slowly hoping to make a mid-summer show.
The h70 engine had bad head gasket when we got it, it's tore down with parts in hand to reassemble. Engine tins are under primer waiting on paintable weather.
Most of the body parts are blasted and are waiting for primer or are under primer.
Rims are also blasted waiting on primer, just need paint able weather.

Here is the hood before it blasting and after,
the bad part is what you find under the paint, now how did this happen?
we all been there and we all done it so, its not like its a elite club i am joining.
just paying my dues for joining.
Thinking about what i want to do to correct the cracking in the brazed areas.

After some clean up of someone's brazing technique and some added strapping. and a return trip to the blaster for touch ups.
its under primer, awaiting filler and wet sanding.
by the time we are done with the build.
Geno should be able to get RUSTOLEUM as a paid sponsor
i will be using RUSTOLEUM primers and paints.
and a lot of 3M wet sanding cloth.

That is a big blasting cabinet....looks like you could set the whole tractor in it.....lol....

It's nice to have a sand blasting cabinet, I have to farm my stuff out. It costs me about $75 bucks to get everything i need done. If I had the room I would have one. I to am a big Rust-oleum user, they should send us some discount coupons.

There are a lot of people who build their own sandblaster out of plywood. I've thought of doing this myself, the can be made big, and to look very nice. :)

i made my parts into a wind chime today......


well it kind of looks like one
just moved out side in the nice weather to do some priming .
this color of red primer is getting old
but so is wet sanding in 50 deg weather
